Here’s a little info from the http://globalstoneworkshop.com page I saw this morning. This looks really awesome – go all over the world and carve in different countries’ stone! Both images below © Global Workshops. You can see way more on their site.
GLOBAL STONE WORKSHOP® is a small, not-for-profit organisation, which organises sculpture work stages, called “INCONTRI” (GATHERINGS), in European locations where a sculptor’s favourite stone is quarried.
Currently, the organisation operates in Sweden, in the province of Bohuslän (coloured granites) and in the island of Gotland (limestone with imbedded fossils); in Italy, at Carrara (marble), in Portugal, at Odrinhas (coloured marbles and limestone), in Croatia (white limestone); in Spain (alabaster in many colours and sizes); in Vietnam (marbles and granites) and in India (marbles and granites).
GLOBAL STONE WORKSHOP® was founded in 1996 by Stefano Beccari, a Swedish-Italian artist, who lives in Stockholm, and Hans Leutscher, a Dutch sculptor, who lives and works in Rotterdam.
The founders purpose is to work with the other participant artists and to exchange professional experiences. GLOBAL STONE WORKSHOP® has organised more than 160 INCONTRI with over 500 participants from all over Europe.
