This list of events for sculptors is an ever-evolving list, and as such is never complete. If you have information you want to add to it, please contact us. Please do NOT send us information for one-off workshops – we only show links to annual events, residencies, schools and annual festivals. You’ll notice that so far, we have listed only stone symposia and the like – if you have information about annual events in other sculpture media, please do email us so we can list it, too. Thanks.
WORKSHOPS
Scotland: Scottish Sculpture Workshop

The Scottish Sculpture Workshop is a unique place – we are the international centre for sculpture in Scotland. We provide facilities for making sculpture and self-catering accommodation on a site in the foothills of the Highlands of Scotland. Please get in touch, tell us about yourselves, and lets see if we can do something together. ssw@sculptur.demon.co.uk
SCHOOLS/RESIDENCIES
The International School
http://www.giotto.org
is an ideal environment in which developing artists can completely devote themselves to working and learning. The time spent working at the school has always been extremely productive and conducive for breakthroughs, for students and faculty alike. Many have written to say that they learned more in six weeks at the school than they did in a semester of university. Here you can work in a scenic environment, in an artist’s community.
The Artist’s Residency program in Montecastello provides the ideal combination of seclusion and community in a setting of truly inspirational beauty. Artists can work intensively and independently for four or more weeks in a supportive and intimate environment. The Residence Program also enables students to continue to work and progress independently.

Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium
http://www.schoodicsculpture.org/home.html
Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium follows the path set by the first sculpture symposium of the modern era, which was held in Austria in 1959. Since then, sculptors have been gathering at various places around the world to practice their art and to learn from each other and from the symposium setting. In addition to learning new techniques, sculptors gain valuable exposure to different concepts and other cultures. The visiting public is able to share this experience and to gain a sense of what it takes to create a sculpture. The finished work then becomes a new and permanent part of the community’s landscape.
In 2009, six artists from Maine, the United States, and three other countries were invited to sculpt monumental works out of Maine granite and basalt. The finished sculptures were exhibited in the park and then permanently installed in public locations in Washington and Hancock counties. The public was invited to watch the event at all times during the six weeks. A catalogue was produced after each symposium.
Location: USA (Acadia National Park, Maine).
